DMR radios are very different
from everyday analog radios.

They require a ham radio license.

They require a DMR ID.

They require interfacing with a network.

DMR is difficult to understand, setup,
and use but then you don't depend
on the band conditions, time of day
or night, and a limited talk group
that may be on the air any given time.

DMR uses multiple technologies
to make all this work.
It is amateur radio on steroids.
